By Véronique Barrot
So you want to boost your LinkedIn profile to attract the right people? Congratulations on taking the bold step of pursuing this idea. It's an exciting journey that holds immense potential for growth and fulfillment.
Welcome to this month's newsletter issue! I'm thrilled to have you here as we delve into this essential topic when it comes to growing your audience on LinkedIn.
Most conversations about boosting LinkedIn profiles revolve around posting content, but did you know that the often-overlooked domain of commenting could lead to incredible opportunities?
Did you also know that commenting could allow your voice to resonate, your insights to be valued, and meaningful conversations to flourish?
You may have heard the term low hanging fruit in business. It is the idea of focusing your efforts on the most easily attainable goals which lead to the quickest and most ripe results.
Focusing on the most easily attainable goal allows you to generate momentum and by starting seeing the result, you will be more motivated to further build your LinkedIn presence. I think of commenting as the low hanging fruit when it comes to growing LinkedIn profiles. It's an often underestimated strategy with immense potential.
However, commenting on LinkedIn can also be time consuming.
Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered.
In this issue, I’ll give you 6 tips to effectively post comments on LinkedIn, a tool to speed up the process and a quote that resonated with me this month. I will also reveal my numbers after 4 months of being on the platform.

Here are six simple tips for effectively posting comments on LinkedIn to navigate this dynamic platform.
📝 6 Tips for effectively posting comments on LinkedIn to grow your network. 💬
Tip 1: Engage Thoughtfully.
Don't just skim through posts and leave hasty comments. Take the time to thoroughly read and understand the content before responding. Engage thoughtfully by addressing specific points, asking relevant questions, or sharing additional insights that contribute to the discussion. Thoughtful engagement demonstrates your attentiveness and adds depth to the conversation.
Providing thoughtful comments shows real engagement with the post, and the author and other commenters will be more likely to reply and like/love your comment. All of this may drive attention to your profile.
Here is an example of a comment that I left where the author responded and three people liked it.
Most relevant comments, like this one, stay at the top of the comments section and are the first ones seen after someone has read the post. By providing valuable insights and engaging in meaningful discussions, your comment has the potential to gain visibility and make a lasting impression
Tip 2: Be Genuine and Authentic.
When posting comments on LinkedIn, authenticity is key. Be genuine in your interactions and express your thoughts and insights sincerely. Strive to add value to the conversation. Share your unique perspectives and experiences, as this will resonate with others and establish your authenticity.
Here is a comment that I left to this post1:
Tip 3: Avoid being generic.
When you post, avoid comments like 'Great post!' only. Anyone can say that, even if they haven't read the post. Try to engage more by sharing specific thoughts or insights that demonstrate you have actually read and understood the content. Simply saying 'Great post', 'great share', or 'nice post' doesn't provide value and doesn't encourage others to visit your profile to learn more about you and what you have to offer.
Tip 4: Build Meaningful Connections.
LinkedIn is a powerful networking platform, and commenting provides an excellent opportunity to connect with professionals in your industry. When posting comments, take the initiative to engage with the post's author and other commenters. By building meaningful connections, you can expand your network, gain new perspectives, and potentially uncover collaboration or business opportunities.
Tip 5: Showcase Your Expertise.
Use comments as a platform to showcase your expertise and establish yourself as a credible voice in your field. Share valuable insights, industry knowledge, or relevant experiences that highlight your expertise. By consistently providing valuable contributions, you can position yourself as a thought leader and attract the attention of potential clients, partners, or employers.
Tip 6: Use templates.
If you frequently comment on similar types of posts, consider creating some comment templates that you can customize and reuse. This can save you time and help you stay consistent in your messaging.
So here is a template that I often use, but there are many others that you can use:
Say something to compliment the author followed by @mention: It could for instance be ‘Great post @+name’ or ‘Thank you for sharing @+name’
I agree with, I love that + [summarize the post or extract anything you you liked in the post]
Extend point 2 or add something else that comes to mind to bring additional value.
By implementing these six tips, you'll be able to make the most out of posting comments on LinkedIn. Not only will you establish your presence, but you'll also nurture meaningful connections, position yourself as an expert and attract job opportunities and clients for your business.
“That’ll probably take a lot of time. I don’t have that kind of time,” I hear you say.
Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered.
So in the next part, I am going to talk to you about a tool that you can use to speed up the process of writing comments on LinkedIn.
🔧 A handy tool to accelerate Your LinkedIn Commenting! 🚀
Here is a tool to speed up the process of writing comments on LinkedIn.
The tool that I have been experimenting with to speed up the process is ChatGPT.
Sometimes, you come across a post that you genuinely like, but you struggle to find the right words to comment. Your mind goes blank, and all you can do is click the like/love button, as I used to do in the beginning, or spend a significant amount of time trying to come up with something to write.
Then I discovered that I could use ChatGPT to generate ideas for my comments. Once I have those ideas, I write my comments using my own words.
When you receive a reply from ChatGPT, it's important not to simply copy and paste it. Instead, use the answer as a source of inspiration. I have found that when you provide simple prompts to ChatGPT, the output can sometimes sound too professional and impersonal.
Remember, AI lacks human emotion, and that's why I believe it can't replace humans but can only assist us in doing our work better and faster. So, I recommend rewriting the response provided by ChatGPT in your own words and adapting the tone to reflect your personality.
Here is the exact prompt I use to generate comment ideas:
Respond to this post: [copy and paste the post here].
You can also request a response in a friendly tone:

🌟 Quote of the Month: Embracing the Power of the Present Moment with Eckhart Tolle 🕊️
"Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have." - Eckhart Tolle
I love this quote by Eckhart Tolle because it encourages us to cultivate a deep awareness and gratitude for the present.
Sometimes, we tend to dwell on the past and allow it to shape our present experiences. However, two individuals can have the same past but lead entirely different lives—one filled with misery and the other with fulfillment.
The same applies to the future. We shouldn't let anxieties and self-created negative predictions paralyze our thoughts. Don’t let worries about the future paralyze your life in such a way that you cannot even think rationally. Instead, we should plan for various possibilities without overthinking about what lies ahead.
This doesn't imply that we should disregard the past and the future entirely. Both are there for a reason. The past helps us to have valuable experiences that we can take lessons from and apply in our present lives. The future helps us to have aspirations and goals that motivate us in the present.
The truth is that the present moment is the only time that truly exists. It is the only moment in which we can truly live, act, and experience. We must therefore let go of attachments to the past and worries about the future, and instead fully embrace the present moment with mindfulness and presence. By pondering on the significance and power of the present, we can find a sense of clarity, peace, and fulfillment in our lives.
